It's a Thai Thing!

And it's right here in Downtown Chandler!

As the temperatures drop here in Chandler, it’s only normal to gravitate to what gives us comfort: hot chocolate, the perfect hoodie, or perhaps a spicy dish from your favorite Thai restaurant.

If you’re in need of a little inspiration, you’ll find Downtown Chandler’s exclusive Thai restaurant, Charm Thai Cuisine, along Arizona Avenue near Boston Street. With Chandler continually booming with growth, Charm Thai has been a Downtown staple since 2013.

I had the privilege of sitting down with Charm Thai owner and chef, Lucky Chakkaw. Mother of three, Lucky was often encouraged by her children to start her own restaurant. When the opportunity arose to take over Thai Basil restaurant in Chandler, the Chakkaw family ran with it; immersing themselves into the business.

After years of successfully operating Thai Basil, Lucky decided she was ready to start pursuing a second restaurant, but this time it would be her own- giving her the opportunity to showcase her own signature family recipes in a space that would reflect her style. After receiving word that a restaurant space in Downtown Chandler would be coming available, she jumped at the chance. Working diligently to transform the space into her own, Charm Thai was born.

Charm Thai’s menu not only features the familiar dishes you crave, but also some signature items to branch out to. I enjoyed some hot green tea as well as a deliciously rich and creamy Thai coffee (I like my caffeine) before I browsed their entrées. In lieu of ordering my usual drunken noodles, I wanted to go with one of Lucky’s recommendations. I went with their Basil Leaf Chicken- a stir fry of Thai basil, green beans, bell peppers, yellow onions, and chili, topped with an egg and paired with rice and a crispy spring roll. Full of flavor with just the right amount of heat; think I found my new favorite Thai dish.

Take advantage of the perfect weather by dining out on Charm Thai’s outdoor patio or enjoy their beautifully intimate interior. They're open seven days a week with daily happy hour from 5-7pm, and lunch specials on weekdays until 3. The next time you're in the mood to spice things up, I recommend giving Charm Thai a try.
