Originally from San Jose aka Silicon Valley aka the Bay Area (and/or South Bay if you're IN the Bay Area), I can honestly say relocating to Chandler, Arizona (now known as Silicon Desert) was the BEST thing I have ever done for my family. Anyone that thinks they need to stay in California for the higher income that also comes with a higher cost of living clearly has not done their homework or run the numbers.
Now that working from home could be the new normalcy, maybe it's time to look at Arizona in more detail?! Arizona's booming job growth ranked second in the nation last year, according to new data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. With a density of tech talent that is growing faster than in San Francisco, Greater Phoenix is positioned for continuous growth.

Phoenix ranked #4 most desirable metro in the country for millennials. No California cities made the top 10.
Arizona ranked #7 best state for business by CEOs. California ranked last.
In 2017 alone, 60,000 Californians moved to Arizona and put their talents to use in a new place. I know it’s not an easy decision to move, but when you start to evaluate your situation, you’ll see that in Greater Phoenix you can afford a home, have less than a 30-minute commute, enjoy 300+ days of sunshine per year and live a life where you stress a bit less.

Tempe, Arizona is by no means just another college town. Finance, Insurance and even more high-technology companies employ over 100,000 in the city of Tempe. Neighboring city Mesa has become the Southwest Healthcare Hub providing more than 242,000 jobs.
The Town of Gilbert continues to be in the top 10 fastest growing municipalities in the United States, was named the fourth safest city in WalletHub's end-of-year list, and the 12th most livable city in the country by SmartAsset.
