All bets are on at The Parlay!

Par·lay: In a traditional definition, a parlay is a cumulative series of bets in which winnings accruing from each transaction are used as a stake for a further bet. It also happens to be an upbeat neighborhood gastropub in South Chandler, featuring an extensive list of beer, wine, cocktails and modern American cuisine.

During my most recent visit, I had the pleasure of having one of the co-owners, Erica Walters, as my bartender. As a couple previously in the hospitality industry, Erica and her husband Kyle Walters knew they were going to open a restaurant someday; the only question was “When?”. The answer came about one year ago when The Parlay was born.

Upon first glance at the menu, I already knew which cocktail I wanted to order, which was

The Blushing Lady. This sparkling drink consists of Deep Eddy Grapefruit, pomegranate cherry liqueur, lime juice and champagne served up in a flute glass. My next choice was the Blackberry Lime Margarita, made with tequila, Grand Marnier, blackberry syrup, lime juice, garnished with a blackberry and lime wedge, making it just as delicious as it was pretty.

Deciding on my lunch wouldn’t come as easy, because everything on their extensive menu sounded amazing, and I probably should’ve eaten breakfast that morning so I wouldn’t be tempted to order half of the menu. I asked Erica what she recommended, and a few of her suggestions included the Poke, Fresh Salmon, Steak Gorgonzola Pasta, and Lemon Rosemary Chicken.

I finally decided on the Poke appetizer and Steak Gorgonzola Pasta, and I was not

disappointed. Their poke is a fresh sesame soy-seasoned ahi served with wonton chips & Asian slaw. When I moved onto the Steak Gorgonzola Pasta, I found it hard to stop eating because of how flavorful it was with steak cooked to order. Next time I visit The Parlay, I should probably order different dishes, but I can’t wait to order these again.

The Parley features a wide variety of cuisine, cocktails and wine, so whether you’re having a ladies’ night, business lunch or out with buddies, there’s sure to be something for everyone to enjoy. They even have a separate room with a full bar that’s available to rent out for parties. As the weather cools down, they’re aiming to have live music more frequently on the weekends, but be sure to follow their Instagram for updates at @theparlayaz. Happy hour is every day from 3-6pm, and all day on Sundays. No matter how you decide to enjoy The Parlay, their spacious patio is the perfect place to unwind.
